Reach out to us at Premier Periodontics and Implant Dentistry to schedule an appointment utilizing the latest advances in technology to best treat you.

What Is CAD CAM Technology?

This new technology provides computer assistance to both the design and the manufacture of dental appliances. With computer precision there are less instances where appliances do not fit or irritate the soft tissues of the mouth. Tooth restoration has never been more efficient. The computer manufacturing process can perfectly match the natural tooth color of the patient, so the new appliances are inconspicuous.

What Are Digital X-Rays?

One of the most widely used technologies is X-ray imagery of a patient’s mouth. Where once patients had to pinch the film clip between their teeth, that is no longer necessary. Now our practice has the next generation of X-ray technology. Digital imagery provides crystal clear pictures of the patient’s mouth, leading to more accurate diagnoses and more efficient treatment plans.

What Is an Intra Oral Camera?

These are used during dental exams. A small hand-held camera, it is shaped like a dental mirror allowing our staff to view teeth and gums in real time. It also can show gum disease and tooth decay. Patients are able to view everything in real time along with our staff so they can discuss options.

What Is a Soft Tissue Laser?

Lasers were first approved for soft tissue applications in the early 1990’s. Then, in 1996, it was approved for hard tissues like the jawbone. Widely utilized in a variety of soft tissue situations, soft tissue lasers can reshape gums and destroy bacteria when a patient undergoes a root canal. They can be used to obtain small tissue samples to be used in a biopsy. Removing lesions and canker sores, they can also be used to treat gum disease symptoms. Another benefit of using a soft tissue laser is it also promotes faster healing and tissue regrowth. When using a laser for the procedures, no sutures are needed because it seals nerve endings and blood vessels in one step, greatly diminishing post-op infection rates.

What Is an Intraoral Scanner?

This is a wand-like device used to provide our staff with three-dimensional imagery of the patient’s oral cavity. Also painless, our staff can simply move the wand across the upper and lower bridge of the patient’s teeth and computer software captures the three-dimensional model. These are used to not only monitor existing conditions but also to diagnose any new ones.
